More than anything else, the story has a heart. It's commendable how Steve Carell manages to maintain his bizarre accentduring the voiceover, since it's a mishmash of most European accents and nothing in particular. Much to our surprise, they are used more effectively when the end credits roll. The slow-mo dream sequences are equally enjoyable and 3D effects add to all the fun. Scenes where Gru comes dressed as a fairy - flaunting cool gadgets like lipstick tasers, freeze rays, cars which can turn into a submarine and a flying plane - are hilarious. The sight of them communicating with each other in their unique minion language is adorable. Other than Gru, it's his youngest daughter Agnes and his army of those super-cute tiny yellow minions that steal the show. The escapism that the animation provides leaves you with a pleasant smile throughout. Humour, action and emotions are beautifully infused in equal proportion into the story. The characters are as delightful and the story will appeal to kids and adults alike. Despicable Me 2 is heartwarmingly entertaining just like its prequel, if not better.
